What does parent ready mean? Well, it means way more than I have room for here in this short article. But, I’ll share a few of these things with you anyways. You ready? Are you parent ready? Okay, here are just some of the things that mature and responsible parents all around the world do every day in raising their kids and skipping the parties that they used to frequent.
We teach our kids to have good values by also having good values ourselves. We teach them high but realistic life-expectations by having high but realistic life-expectations ourselves. We show love and respect while acknowledging life’s challenges by showing our vulnerable side and displaying our humble work ethic in overcoming life’s obstacles. And while doing these extremely challenging and sometimes frustrating things, we do all of this without losing our temper and showing the weaker side of ourselves to our kids. Remember, they are always watching and always learning from us; whether we like it or not.
It sure sounds like a lot, doesn’t it? That’s because it is a lot! And it’s only the tip of the parenting iceberg. Being parent ready is not an easy thing. It’s a difficult thing. But, we parents still have to do this difficult thing, whether we want to or not. Remember our little ones are watching us and counting on us.
Are you parent ready? Hmm… Well, the good thing here is that we can grow into this new role of being parent ready. And there is no better time to start that journey of growth than right now. So let’s buckle up our chin straps, and become parent ready!
Now, as my Granddaddy always said, “Go learn, lead, and lay the way to a better world for all of us.” Believe it or not, you can do this. You can become parent ready over time if you put aside the partying, balance your ambition, and put in the effort for your kid’s sake. And once again parents, thanks in advance for all that you do, and all that you will do…
